The most-liked comment is not always the one you want viewers to see first. NAWA’s YouTube pin recommendations give you a shortlist, a reason for each choice, and a link to review the comment yourself.
Ask “Which comment should I pin?” in the AI Assistant or inside a video’s chat. NAWA checks the stored comments in that view and suggests candidates worth considering. You make the final choice and pin it on YouTube.
A small decision that deserves some thought
A pinned comment sits at the top of a video’s comment section. YouTube lets you highlight a viewer’s contribution or your own comment; pinning a different one replaces the previous pin. YouTube explains how pinning works.
That makes the choice useful editorial space. You might highlight a question and answer it, recognise thoughtful feedback, or make a practical detail easier to find. None of those choices guarantees more views or replies. The point is to give the next viewer something worth reading.
This guide is for creators deciding what to highlight after an upload, especially when several comments look promising. If you have very few comments, there may simply be nothing worth pinning yet.
How to get a recommendation
For a specific video:
- Open My Content and select the video.
- Open its assistant and choose “Which comment should I pin?”
- Review the nominated comment, its explanation, and the stored like count.
- Follow the YouTube link and read the surrounding conversation.
- If it fits, open the comment’s three-dot menu on YouTube and choose Pin.
For a broader look, ask the same question in the main AI Assistant. Select the channel you want to review first. In an All-channels view, recommendations can come from the channels in that account.
The video assistant returns at most one candidate. The main assistant can return up to three, with no more than one per video. Each request examines up to 200 of the latest stored top-level comments in its selected view, so this is a bounded shortlist, not an exhaustive ranking of your YouTube history.
Pro Tip
Tip: Already connected your channel? Open My Content, choose a video, and ask which comment to pin. Review the recommendation before changing anything on YouTube.
What NAWA looks for, and why
The current feature uses consistent selection rules over stored comment information. It prioritises comments classified as neutral or positive questions. It also considers detailed positive feedback with at least two stored likes.
That distinction matters. A question can give you an opportunity to put a useful answer where others can find it. Detailed praise can recognise a viewer who explained what helped them, rather than simply saying “great video.”
The explanation tells you which of these signals qualified the comment. It is not a prediction that the comment will increase engagement, and it does not replace your judgment about the video’s message.
NAWA filters out identified creator comments, replies within threads, flagged or moderation-labelled comments, and comments containing links or certain promotional terms. Archived videos are excluded too. These filters narrow the shortlist; they do not guarantee that every remaining comment is suitable.

| Whether a question is relevant and worth answering | Showing its existing classification and stored likes |
| Whether the wording represents your community well | Quoting the actual stored comment for review |

An example in English and Arabic
Consider this illustrative comment, not a customer quote:
“Could you show how this camera performs in low light without the extra lighting? That would help me decide whether it suits my setup.”
If it meets the filters and is classified as a neutral or positive question, it could qualify. Your next decision is whether you have a useful answer. If you do, answering and highlighting the thread may serve viewers considering the same setup. NAWA has not established that other viewers share that question merely by nominating it.
For an Arabic example:
“هل ممكن توضّح كيف يكون أداء الكاميرا في الإضاءة الضعيفة من دون إضاءة إضافية؟ هذا يساعدني أعرف إذا كانت مناسبة لتصويري.”
The meaning is the same: a viewer wants to understand low-light performance before deciding whether the camera fits their needs. Ask “أي تعليق يستحق التثبيت؟” to request a recommendation in Arabic. The same selection rules apply, with the explanation and manual pinning instructions presented in Arabic.
What the feature does not do
NAWA does not pin or unpin comments, inspect your current YouTube pin, or confirm that a pin succeeded. YouTube’s documented comment API does not offer a pin or unpin method.
It also does not currently learn from your previous pin choices or measure engagement gained because of a pin. Stored likes are a signal available at the time of the recommendation, not proof of a pin’s effect.
If nothing qualifies, NAWA says there is no clear candidate. That can mean the sample is small, comments have not been classified, or the available comments do not meet the current rules. It is not a verdict on the quality of your community.
